Attachment, briefly

Four ways we learned to love.

Attachment theory describes the patterns we formed before we had words for them. Naming your style isn’t a label — it’s a doorway.

Secure

Trusts easily. Offers closeness without losing self.

“I can depend on others and on me.”

Anxious

Craves closeness. Fears the small silences.

“Are we okay? Are we okay? Are we okay?”

Avoidant

Values independence. Feels crowded by closeness.

“I need space to find myself again.”

Disorganized

Wants closeness and fears it in the same breath.

“Come closer. No — wait.”

A private journal that listens back

Write freely. We’ll find the pattern.

Pour it all out. BetweenUs reads your entry with care and reflects the attachment pattern underneath — without judgment, never stored for training.

She didn't text back after dinner. I keep checking my phone. I know she's busy — she said so — but every minute feels like a verdict. I hate that I need reassurance. I hate more that asking for it feels like losing a game I never agreed to play.

KEY INSIGHTS
  • You are displaying patterns of anxiety triggered by perceived distance or uncertainty in the relationship, specifically around communication.
GROWTH PATH

Practice self-soothing techniques (e.g., deep breathing, grounding exercises) when you feel the urge to check your phone. Allow yourself to sit with the discomfort without acting on it immediately.

Bridge · optional, only with consent

A bridge between two inner worlds.

When both partners opt in, BetweenUs shares the weather — not the words. Climate snapshots, not journal entries. Closeness without surveillance.

The Lake · anonymous · always on

Cast a stone into the water.

When a thought is too big to sit with alone, The Lake lets you place it down — anonymously, tagged only by your attachment style. No names. No replies. Just the small comfort of knowing someone else is out there, writing the same shape as you.

Questions, answered quietly

Before you begin.

Is my journal actually private?

Yes. Entries are encrypted in transit and at rest. Only you can read them. They are never shared with a partner (even in Bridge mode), never shown to humans at BetweenUs, and never used to train AI models. Your entries are yours.

How does the AI analysis work?

When you ask for a reflection, your entry is sent over an encrypted connection to our AI analysis partner through our secure backend. The response comes back and is stored with your entry. Your inputs and outputs are never used to train AI models.

Is BetweenUs therapy?

No. BetweenUs is a journaling and self-reflection companion. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose or treat anything, and it is not a substitute for professional care. If you are struggling, please reach out to a licensed mental-health professional.

What is Bridge mode?

Bridge is an opt-in way to let a partner see the weather of your inner world — not the words of it. You both get climate snapshots and a daily sync score. Raw journal entries never cross the bridge. Either of you can disconnect at any time.

How accurate is the attachment analysis?

Think of it as a well-read friend, not a clinician. The model is trained on attachment-theory literature and gets better the more you write. One entry is a hint; thirty entries is a pattern. Treat the insights as invitations to reflect, not verdicts.

What does it cost?

Free to start: 3 AI analyses a day, 1 Lake post, and 1 healing exercise daily. Premium is $12.99 / month or $79.99 / year and unlocks unlimited analyses, exercises, and Bridge mode. Cancel any time through your Apple ID settings.

Can I delete my data?

Yes — at any time, from inside the app. Deleting your account removes your journal entries, Campfire posts, Bridge data, invites, climate history, and your Firebase Auth record. It is irreversible on purpose.

When is it available?

BetweenUs launches on the App Store soon. Join the waitlist below and you’ll be among the first to know.
